It's a new DAW, it's Bitwig!

Multitrack-recording-bitwig

And this could be Ableton Live killer... It has been 3 years already we've been given Ableton Live 8 and since then we only get some bug fixes and partner instruments from them. I was hoping for Live 9 for 2 years and honestly I was giving up, but last week Bitwig Studio has been announced. Well, now, I'm not hoping for Live 9, I'm hoping for Bitwig beta test! This announcement shinned a new light on whole thing with Ableton, becauce Bitwig founders are former Ableton application developers!!! So, it looks like most talented application developers left Ableton for any reason and started to make their own DAW. Bitwig Studio seems to feature all those things Ableton users has been asking for ages, well Ableton does not listen, but Bitwig does. Nobody knows how it's good Bitwig Studio is going to be, but I'm pretty sure it won't be a failure. And some new competion in Ableton Live market will be only good for us users!

Animoog for iPhone

Iphoneipodanimoog
First things first. Animoog app is available for introductionary price 0,79 EUR, grab it while it's cheap, there is no doubt, this is best synthetizer app for iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad. I've tested and it sounds great, probably it's best sounding music app for iPhone for sure and for this introductionary price it's a "must have".

Here is what official website says about Animoog for iPhone.

Animoog, powered by Moog’s new Anisotropic Synth Engine (ASE), is the first professional polyphonic synthesizer designed for the iPad and iPhone 4. ASE allows you to dynamically move through an X/Y space of unique timbres to create a constantly evolving and expressive soundscape.

Animoog captures the vast sonic vocabulary of Moog synthesizers and applies it to the modern touch surface paradigm, enabling you to quickly sculpt incredibly fluid and dynamic sounds that live, breathe, and evolve as you play them.

Visually captivating and sonically immersive, Animoog brings iPad and iPhone based music production to the next level. Whether you are new to synthesis or a professional, Animoog’s unique user interface gives you the power to easily create a visually vibrant and sonically rich universe. It is the ultimate tool for total creative expression!

Animoog’s diverse library of timbres is derived from analog waveforms captured from classic Moog oscillators, both vintage and modern, and run through a boutique’s worth of high-end outboard and analog signal processors. These include modular synth panels, Moogerfooger pedals and more.

  ·      Anisotropic Synth Engine (ASE) - An exciting new Moog technology that allows the user to move dynamically through an X/Y space of unique timbres to create an expressive and constantly evolving soundscape.

  ·      Timbre page – Assemble unique sounds in the X/Y space from timbres of a wide variety of vintage and modern Moog synthesizers and pedals Note: this is NOT simple sample playback.

·      Polyphonic Modulation - Simply slide your fingers to control multiple modulation parameters in Animoog right from the keys.

·      Polyphonic Pitch Shifting - Easily manipulate the exact pitch of each note in a chord by rotating or sliding your fingers.

·      Delay Module - A classic analog style ping pong delay.

·      Thick Module - From bit crushing to unison voice detuning and drive, this module adds depth, edge and character to Animoog’s already massive sound palette.

Moog Filter - The classic four-pole Moog ladder filter with High Pass, Low Pass and Band Pass modes.

·      Record Module - Record your performance and overdub new layers, or play along live. Transfer recordings between Animoog and any other apps that support Copy/Paste

·      Path Module - Direct ASE through Animoog’s X/Y space to create new expressive and shifting sounds that will blow your mind!

·      Orbit Module - Control the rate of orbit in the X/Y space around the path you created for subtle to insane voice manipulation.

·      Flexible Modulation Matrix - Amp, Filter and Mod Envelopes, LFO with infinitely variable wave shapes and sync, and four super flexible and assignable modulation slots.

·      MIDI in/out - Use your Little Phatty or any other MIDI controller to control Animoog.

iKaossilator for iPhone/ iPad

Ikaossilator
KORG iKaossilator is one of the best music making apps for iPhone out there and it's not a surprise. If you are familiar with other KORG Kaoss products you have the idea how it works. You have a X-Y touchpad and you basicaly draw your music there. It features 150 sound presets in awesome quality. It sounds good and it looks good, too. I mean, iKaossilator has a great UI design which makes it even more fun for us. Blue, yellow, red, green, pink, orange... It's flashing like 80's disco lights! At least, but not last I have to tell you about WIST. This is Korg's Wireless Sync-Start Technology, which enables you play in sync with other devices running WIST compatible apps.

Check out these vids Korg made to hook you up. I got hooked and you?

iMaschine for iPhone/ iPad

Imaschine-1
The first Native Instrument iOS app ever (lets pray it's not last) is iMaschine. They say it's a "intuitive beat sketchpad based on NI MASCHINE's groove production concept". This app is made for one thing and it does it perfect, MAKING BEATS. It's loaded with super quality samples you can play with and when you get tired of them (or you riped them all to HD) it is easy to buy extra sample packs. I guess its worth it.

Rebirth for iPhone/iPad

Propellerhead-rebirth-660-80

iPhone is very nice piece of technology coming to revolutionarize our view on mobile devices (actually that happened already). It revolutionarized mobile-phone industry, gaming industry and many others industries, but for me it become a brand new musical instrument. In a short while after iPhone release there were several music iPhone apps that allows you literally make music on it. Well, you can imagine how many music apps there are now!

One of them is...

Rebirth for iPhone is a recreation of propellerheads music software "Rebirth" made back in 1997. It is all in one software for making techno/acid music. The software was inspired by famous Roland products and puts two TB-303 and TR-808, TR-909 into one unit called RB-338.
